Uploading to the Pattern Keeper
What is Pattern Keeper App?
Pattern Keeper is a one-time purchase app, with a month-long free trial, that tracks your cross-stitching progress. For the moment, it is only available for Android devices. I use it daily for my own patterns and, thus, can verify that the patterns can be uploaded and tracked through the app. I am not sponsored by them, but I do appreciate the app greatly. The app is in constant development and, for now, it does not track back-stitching nor is it available for iOS, but they are working on it! You can read more about them on their website: Pattern Keep!
Setting Up
Setting up should take less than a minute once you get familiar with the process. At the start it might take you a minute or two, but I'm here to walk you through the process.
Firstly, open the app and click the plus (+) sign icon at the bottom right of your screen.
The app allows you to either use a .PDF file or to take photos of a pattern as an upload method. For my patterns, all you need is to hit the "PDF File" option and search for your the pattern on your phone's files.
The app will scan the file and then ask you if you see "any shaded or lightly coloured rows or columns at the edges." Answer yes or no. If there are no rows or columns, it will pull up another section and ask the same question. Answer yes or no.
You will see the question "How big is the overlap?" For my patterns, there is no overlap, so choose 0 and then hit "Ok."
Finally, you will see a green circle with a checkmark inside: this means that the pattern has been successfully uploaded.
Afterwards, the app will ask you to verify the chart. You will then be able to see the DMC colour chart on your left, which should be correctly read by the app, but it doesn't hurt to verify that thread/colour information is correct. If you wish to verify, simply open the .PDF file on another screen and go over the list.
There you have it! Your pattern is ready and you can get to stitching!
Questions?
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me and I will update this post :)
If you are experiencing any problems after following the above instructions, do let me know; updates may have occurred that have somehow affected the pattern reading.
Please keep in mind that back-stitching is not currently read or tracked by the app.
